Firefox 4 blank browser windows when running shades

  • Type: Incorrect Functionality
  • Version Tested: 1.2b3 (Intel)
  • OS Version Affected: Mac OS X 10.6
  • Status: Open

Description

When running shades Firefox 4 windows appear to be in a "captured or static state" whereby the browser windows do not reflect what is being currently viewed in the browser. Using the expose function within osx temporarily fixes the problem but it re-occurs whenever a new window is created. This problem does not occur when shades is not running.

Pre-requisites:

Shades 1.2b3
Firefox 4 beta 8 (ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/4.0b8/mac64/en-GB/)

Steps to recreate:

1. Launch shades service.
2. Launch Firefox 4 beta 8
3. Firefox browser window appears blank when there are infact tabs open on webpages (or whichever homepage the user has it set to).
4. Tap f10 or click and hold firefox icon in dock to enable expose
5. Browser window should now reflect the actual page it is on, click on the window.
6. Press command + n to open a new window and the problem persists (blank page).
7. Quit Firefox 4
8. Stop shades service
9. Run Firefox 4
10. Browser windows load normally and no there is no "capture bug".
