Two icons in menu bar

Description
There are suddenly two shades icons in my menu-bar, one seems to have limited to no functionality

This has happened to me several times too, although the effects are more pernicious. When I try to click on either one of the two icons, the entire menu bar locks up with the cursor turning into a beach ball.
The problem only happens on the 2nd (non-admin) account. I have to log off the account to cure the problem.
I running the same configuration and version as the bug reporter (on a Mac 24", 3.0 ghz).
