Yosemite: Shades causes dropouts in MOTU audio devices

  • Type: Incorrect Functionality
  • Version Tested: 1.2 (Intel)
  • OS Version Affected: Mac OS X 10.9
  • Status: Open

Note: Reprt claims Mavericks, but the problem is specific to OS 10.10 Yosemite, but that option isn't available on the bug report form.

With Shades 1.2 running under OS X 10.10 Yosemite, audio devices from Mark of the Unicorn (MOTU) experience regular spikes and audio dropouts across all inputs and outputs, including optical, S/PDIF. audio, and MIDI. Channels do not need to have devices connected or even be enabled; spikes range from every few seconds to intervals of about 90 seconds. Spikes are destructive, making the interfaces unsuitable for recording or even audio playback.

No idea what Shades could be doing that interferes with audio I/O, but since my living is tied to audio production and not to Shades, I'm now forced to search for an alternative.
