Shades Bug Report

No dimming whatsoever

Description
Just installed Shades for the first time and I'm not able to see any dimming.
I've verified that Shades is started. I've turned on the "Brighter" and "Darker" Hotkeys and verified that they moved the slider as expected.
Thinking that maybe my color calibration profile was getting in the way I noticed that I have two identical color profiles for my LCD monitor (a Dell 24").
I'm running OSX 10.6.4 with the latest NVidia update as well.
