color behind time and/or date

Description

I occasionally get a gray background behind the date and/or time, especially if I change the type style (bold, italic, condensed). Sometimes can get rid of it by turning bold on and off, but not always.

Updates

Interesting... I'd never noticed this before but it seems to have something to do with the "flash separators" option. Try turning this off in the meantime, and I'll see if I can figure out why this might be happening.

I didn\'t have the flash separators on, if that\'s of any help. I had to restart the computer (unrelated reason), and it\'s looked fine since.
Thanks

Tonight, I unchecked the flashing separators, and I believe that has caused the background behind the time to become darker than the rest of the menu bar. I'm fairly certain it wasn't like that before I made the change.

Ahh, I just fixed it. All of the style checkboxes were checked (Bold, Italic, Condensed). I uncheck Bold, the darker gray background disappeared, and re-checking Bold brought back the bold style, but left the background in its ânaturalâ gray color. Interesting.

I've done some more checking, and here is what I've found:

Any change (off or on) to the Flash Separators checkbox turns on the darker gray background if it was off. No effect on the background if the darker gray background was already on.

Any change to the Font selection or any of the style checkboxes returns the background to normal if it was dark. No effect on the background otherwise.
