MagiCal Bug Report

No tear-off

  • Type: Incorrect Functionality
  • Version Tested: 1.1a6 (Universal)
  • OS Version Affected: Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Status: Closed

Description

The latest version shows in the menu bar OK but I can not get a tear-off calendar.
This means I can not quit it or get to the preferences.
I then downloaded what I thought to be the latest stable version & put it into Utilities rather than Apps..
The second turned out to be the same version [1.1a6] & I now have two sets of date/time running in the menu bar.

I am unable to quit either!
Help please
Mark

Updates

Hi Mark. No need to panic ;-)

To quit MagiCal, click on the menu icon then use the command-Q shortcut on the keyboard. If that doesn't work for some reason, launch Activity Monitor (should come pre-installed on your Mac), search for MagiCal, then quit it.

Delete the copy of MagiCal in your utilities folder. Now go to your user folder and select the file library/preferences/com.charcoaldesign.magical.plist and delete it. That will reset your magical preferences and switch you back to the legacy calendar, which doesn't have the issue you are experiencing.

If you decide that you're sick of being an alpha tester, you can get the stable 1.0.9r4 release from here: http://www.charcoaldesign.co.uk/resources/magical-universal.zip

Let me know if you have any further issues.

Thanks for the swift response Nick,
All is well now - I am using 1.0.9r4!
I am no good as a tester!
