Decrease memory usage

  • Status: Closed

Right after startup MagiCal is using 21 MB of Real Memory. For a small (albeit nifty) utility this is IMHO too much (Tested on PB G4 867 MHz, 640 MB RAM)

58 megs? Ouch, that is really high for a menubar app. The dropdown menu isnt even open. Also 320mb of virtual mem usage is quite high as well. Have been trying iClock and menucalendar ical, and they run 38mb and 32 respectivly. Both use 220mb of virtual ram. Anyway possible to reduce the memory footprint?

As you can see from the other report, memory usage varies dramatically from user to user and even from one occasion to another for the same user. I have had it go as low as 6MB, and I've never seen it go above about 35MB on my machine.

I think it's just one of the things that goes up and down according the the Kernel's whim, and I shouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. I will continue to optimise in future versions and memory usage may decrease, but I can't guarantee anything.
